Car Air Conditioning Service

Car air conditioning repair and recharge in Southampton for poor cooling, weak airflow or unwanted odours, with system checks before the service is completed.
Contact AutoShack for the current air conditioning service price and to confirm suitability for your vehicle.

Air conditioning checks, repair and recharge

If the air conditioning is not cooling properly, airflow is poor or an unwanted odour is coming through the vents, AutoShack can inspect the system and advise on the service required.

The supplied AutoShack service information describes a recharge with refrigerant gas and fresh compressor oil, supported by visual, temperature and leak checks. Air and moisture are evacuated so the system can be charged appropriately.

A thorough air conditioning service

System assessment

The service starts with the reported symptom and a visual inspection.

Temperature and leak checks

Cooling performance and signs of leakage are checked as part of the published service.

Refrigerant and compressor oil

The previous service copy specifies replenished refrigerant gas and fresh compressor oil.

Air and moisture evacuation

The system is evacuated before it is appropriately charged.

Signs to have the air conditioning checked

Poor cooling

The air from the vents does not become as cool as expected.

Weak airflow

Airflow through the vents is noticeably reduced.

Unwanted odour

An unpleasant smell is present when the system is running.

Air conditioning not working

The system does not respond or provide useful cooling.

Air conditioning guidance

Cooling has gradually weakened

Arrange a check and recharge assessment rather than waiting for the system to stop cooling completely.

There is an odour

Mention when the smell occurs so the symptom can be considered during the inspection.

The system has an obvious fault

A recharge may not resolve every mechanical or electrical issue, so the cause should be assessed.

Another warning light is present

Use the diagnostics service if the vehicle is also displaying a relevant warning or fault code.

What the AutoShack aircon service covers

The air conditioning service includes replenished refrigerant gas, fresh compressor oil, a full visual inspection, temperature and leak checks, and evacuation of air and moisture. The aim is to leave the system appropriately charged for the vehicle.

If the problem is linked to a wider electrical or mechanical fault, AutoShack can discuss diagnostics or car repair work.

What a great bunch of lads. Went out their way to replace an ABS sensor on my car after I broke down. Very reasonable and honest garage, highly recommend to anyone!

Mixed experience with Auto Shack. I took my Vauxhall Corsa in for a timing chain and water pump. While the car is now running perfectly and sounds much quieter than before, the process was quite frustrating. What was meant to be a quick job turned into nearly a week of delays due to a faulty part being fitted initially, followed by a supplier error with a missing gasket.
To their credit, they provided a courtesy car to keep me mobile and upgraded me to a premium water pump to ensure the fix was solid. They also replaced all the relevant gaskets for the parts they had to remove, which gives me peace of mind that the job was done thoroughly and won't leak. The mechanical work seems top-notch, though communication regarding the delays could have been better. If you aren't in a rush, the quality of the work is excellent, but be prepared for potential timeline shifts

This place is a gorgeous spacious super high ceiling workshop. The staff diagnosed a leak on my backbox whilst changing my tyres and took time to talk me through options as well as tightening some loose clamps. This was a nice complementary extra care to receive. They also showed me how the wheel alignment works which was really cool to see. Every team member I met has been really courteous. They could do with more spacious car park as it can be tricky to manoeuvre around.

Mine and my husband's experience of the guys at Autoshack is super positive.

They're really friendly, the prices are reasonable and it's fairly quick to get things fixed too.
